THE ALBERT MEMORIAL
The Albert Memorial is an important monument which is situated opposite the Royal Albert Hall.
Its story is very interesting, probably more than people think.
In 1863 Queen Victoria commissioned its construction, as a memory of her husband Prince Albert, who had died two years ago. The Queen had come to the throne at 18 years old and after being pressured to marry, she chose Prince Albert as her husband three years later.
The memorial was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, one of the most prestigious architects of the time.
